ABOUT US

Our Vision

We have planned these events so that you can come and take some time out from everyday life; come and explore with us, take time to turn in and look for your own space, your true and fundamental nature, whatever that might be.

To practice here in the Highlands, out in the elements in this inspiring landscape is very important to us. It’s wild, invigorating and energising; the highest mountains in the UK, the deep-sea lochs, the ever-changing skies and sense of wild space. Big enough to hold whatever we may need to bring to it – the highs and lows of our lives, the frustrations, dramas and tensions can all sit in this space. When we return from our adventures, we can be sure that our lives will be more purposeful, more worthwhile, carrying that sense of space forwards into our relationships, whether that’s work or family, we can really start to see things in new ways.

For us, yoga was never meant to be confined to a mat indoors in an overheated studio. What we learn in our physical practice provides the foundation for a more contemplative, conscious and lighter engagement with life. Practice is both outdoors and in, embracing the elements and living more in tune with the seasons and the environment. At the same time finding opportunities for evolution alongside others as a shared experience, is what working together on Wild Yoga Glencoe is all about.

Everything is here and we can’t wait to share it with you.

CLAIRE THOMSON

ERYT 500 Yoga Teacher
Specialisms: Seasonal, Aerial & Yin Yoga

I have lived in Glencoe for over 20 years and have been teaching yoga for over 10. I first came to yoga looking to nourish my ageing body but quickly realised that the benefits to my mind were much more significant.

The combination of seasonal yoga and living in such an inspiring landscape soon morphed into a love of wild yoga.  I find it nourishing, refreshing and enlivening to be able to share yoga outdoors with such a wide variety of people and a privilege to journey with my wild partner Penny.

Bringing my other passions along for the ride, like aerial yoga, yin yoga and all the mindfulness techniques we enjoy in our time in and out of doors is the icing on the cake for me.  And then there's my love of cake...

PENNY CLAY

RYT200 Yoga Teacher, Zen Teacher
Specialisms: Zen & Seasonal Yoga, Mountain Leader

I found yoga over 30 years ago when I studied Hinduism as part of my Religious Studies degree. That took me into a teaching career specialising in Buddhism, Philosophy and Sociology of Religion. My other lifelong passion is mountaineering and I have many years experience climbing in the UK, European Alps as well as Norway, Canada and the Himalayas. Yoga, meditation and the outdoors have been constant themes in my life, complementary practices that nurture and satisfy both my body and mind.

I've lived and taught in Glencoe for six years and love exploring amazing places with Claire where we can share our practice out in the wild. I'm in charge of safety on our outdoor adventures; I'm a qualified Mountain Leader, hold a BASP Emergency Outdoor First Aid Certificate and am a member of the Mountain Training Association. Plus, I make a mean vegan chocolate brownie!
