Spring Wild Weekend
Time & Location
About the Event
Spring is a time of rising energy, as we move out of winter the days are becoming longer and lighter; this is a great time of year to launch new plans and to harness and build upon the rising Yang energy we can see around us in nature. Taking a whole weekend out for ourselves means we can wander further, deeper into the hills and into our practices. This is also the best season to become more physically active so we will enjoy a more challenging guided walk onto a nearby mountain, the iconic Pap of Glencoe, with a lower level option if you don’t have a head for heights! Chi Gung sequences and short, mindful meditative activities will be woven into the days and the weekend will also feature the opportunity to fly with some Aerial Yoga sessions indoors.
Spring is the best time of year to review and refresh our plans so back at base at the Alpine Bunkhouse we will have themed discussions and a special Vision Boarding session to help create and focus on our goals and aspirations for the year. Journaling will be another useful tool to help us clarify our thoughts and intentions. In Traditional Chinese Medicine this time of year is associated with the element of wood so we will also be spending time in the beautiful woodland around the glen to help us expand our energy and creativity. This is not a traditional retreat so there will be no long, extended periods of silence. Instead, this is a weekend for you to spend time outdoors, hiking and exploring with good company, planning and creating and challenging yourself physically and mentally with the support of your fellow adventurers. You will leave invigorated and refreshed with a wealth of seasonal experiences designed to help you move forward with a renewed sense of purpose and vision.
Accommodation & Meals: We are taking over the amazing Alpine Bunkhouse at Glencoe Independent Hostel for the weekend. It has basic, single-sex shared dormitory style rooms, shared bathrooms (there are no en-suites or single rooms) and an excellent drying room for our outdoor kit if we get wet. We have sole use of the Bunkhouse so there will be plenty of room for us. This event is fully catered with all meals and drinks (no alcohol) provided. We have a fantastic menu of nourishing and healthy seasonal food planned for you; all meals are vegetarian/vegan and we will all muck in to help with serving food and clearing up afterwards, some karma yoga for us all.
No previous yoga or hillwalking experience is needed but a reasonable level of fitness will help you to enjoy the experience. All walks will be on established paths but they may be wet, rough and uneven. As a minimum you will need a comfortable pair of walking boots, a full set of waterproofs and rucksack; see our full kit list for more information. Yoga equipment is provided by us if you need it. Please get in touch if you have any questions prior to making your booking. The mountain walk will be led by Penny who is a qualified Mountain Leader and she will be in charge of planning the day’s hiking taking into account weather conditions and the fitness of the group. Please note all outdoors activities are dependent on weather conditions on the day. The final decision for the route taken rests with the guide. This weekend is open to both men and women.
